Chapter 3 Spring Term, 2016: Collaborating during the Re-Envisioning Process

The time-consuming process of reviewing the existing courses in detail and designing changes began during spring term. The Paradigms 2.0 committee began meeting frequently, decided to build upon an unusual card-sorting process that had successfully guided the earlier curriculum reform, interviewed faculty currently teaching upper-division courses, began deliberations, engaged in the collaborative ‘card-sorting’ process to re-consider the current and possible arrangements of topics, redesigned the junior year courses, generated plans for creating two new sophomore courses, and created a proposal for submission to the faculty for a vote by the end of the term.
