Chapter 2 Winter term, 2016: Getting Started with the Re-Envisioning Process

The Paradigms in Physics program included all of the upper-level courses offered physics majors during the junior and senior years. Courses to be reconsidered included nine junior paradigms in physics courses, five senior capstone courses, electronics courses, computational and computer interfacing courses, an optics laboratory course, and thesis as shown in Figure III.5.7.1 below. Also to be reconsidered were specialty courses that were electives and a modern physics course that OSU students typically completed in the sophomore year but transfer students completed as juniors.

During winter term 2016, the Paradigms 2.0 re-envisioning process included gaining administrative support, forming a small representative committee, informing faculty about the intended process via a department colloquium, and gathering faculty and student input via an online survey.
