Section 7.4 Adaptation rather than adoption of reformed course schedule and topic organization.

Faculty elsewhere have chosen primarily to adapt aspects of the materials and pedagogical practices rather than try to adopt the revised three-week course schedule and reorganized curriculum as a whole. This has been the more practical approach to introducing reform within their existing course structures.

A summary of lessons learned from this first decade of reform appears in the Part II: What We Learned (Chapter 1: Initiating the Paradigms: 1996-2005). Discussion of what happened during the second decade, 2006-2016, is based on interviews with newly-hired faculty assigned to teach the paradigms and capstone courses.
