Section 4.3 Using a prior instructor's course website
While teaching a paradigms course, the instructor provides a website for the students, which also can serve as a resource for the next person teaching the course. One new faculty member found this particularly helpful when the prior instructor was away on sabbatical and therefore unavailable for face-to-face conversations:
This one (a paradigms course) I took over from (another faculty member who) at the time was on sabbatical so I didn't really have anyone I could turn to and actually talk to about the course. He wasn't here. And so he did have a website which was moderately comprehensive and so unlike this gigabyte in binders worth of stuff, I pretty much just got this website and he did have most of his notes up
This comment also reflects the transition in technology over twenty years from binders with printed course notes and copies of transparencies placed on overhead projectors to electronic files and websites as resources on which to draw in planning a course.
