Section 4.1 Applying for University Approval of Course Changes
One of the Paradigms 2.0 committee members assumed responsibility for preparing and submitting the information and forms required by the university for approving the revised junior-year paradigms in physics courses and the two new sophomore courses. The revised courses required new approvals because several were being combined with new titles and all were moving from the old plan of 3 three-week courses each term to the new plan of 2 five-week courses each term. This required a change in credits from two credits each (a total of six credits each term) to three credits each (still a total of six credits each term). The course approval process was long and tedious but was successfully completed in time for Winter 2017.
Students had to sign up for Fall 2016 courses in the spring, before the faculty vote that approved the new plan. Therefore the fall term courses were credited and named under the old plan but enacted by the faculty according to the new plan. This caused a few transitional difficulties that were successfully surmounted with care and effort.
